Most people don’t “need cosmetic dentistry” first. They need a great dental home: cleanings, prevention, and a team that catches small problems before they become expensive ones.
At Johnston & Murphy Dental Care, hygiene is built around three things:
A gentle, thorough cleaning (with no rushing)
A clear look at gum health and risk areas
A simple plan you can actually follow

We keep this simple and comfortable:
Review your goals and any concerns (sensitivity, bleeding gums, bad breath, “haven’t been in a while,” etc.)
Cleaning and polishing
Gum health check and screening
Doctor exam as needed
If X-rays are due, we’ll take what’s needed to see what’s going on beneath the surface
If we find something, we’ll explain it in plain English and tell you your options—no pressure.
Nervous about cleanings?
The practice offers sedation options and can make even routine visits more comfortable.

How soon can I get in?
Call or text and we’ll find the next best option. Fridays vary.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No, the practice is currently unable to accept Medicaid or other government-funded plans.
What if it’s been years since my last cleaning?
That’s common. We’ll go at a pace you can tolerate and make a plan from there.
Do you offer comfort options if I’m anxious?
Yes, ask about sedation options.
Who is a good candidate for a new-patient hygiene exam and cleaning?
A new-patient hygiene visit is a great fit if you’re due for a routine cleaning, you’re new to the practice and want to establish care, it’s been a while since your last dental visit, or you have common concerns like bleeding gums, bad breath, sensitivity, or buildup you want checked. If you’re having severe pain, swelling, or a possible emergency, you should request an urgent visit instead so we can get you the right care quickly.
